In 1984, while attending University of
Southern
California, majoring in Biological Science, she debuted as a
singer/lyric writer from Island Ze Record, as a member of an
international rap group called
Daisy
Chain with a sensational first single, "No Time to Stop
Believing in Love." in Europe and Asia. By this sensational hit,
she was called back to Japan from the prime time syndicated music
variety show by TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting Systems, one of the major
networks in Japan) to appear on the show as a regular musician.
After doing this show by TBS in 1985, she launched her career as a
lyric writer in Japan, and wrote TV commercial jingles, movie sound
tracks and records / CDs.
In 1989, she returned to Los Angeles to finish USC, but she continued
to work for the Japanese media as a music journalist, interviewing
various rock musicians for Japanese music magazines, as a DJ and
reporter for the number of radio shows from the studios in LA to be
broadcasted in Japan, and as a weekly
colomunist for a very popular 1.1 million-a-week circulated magazine
for 4 and a
half years.
In 1995, she had her very first book published by Kodansha, a major
publisher in Japan, and since then, 13 books had been published and
currently two more books has already been contracted with major
Japanese publishers.
More than 300 of her articles and essays have appeared in various
publications, and she has translated more than 150 songs from Japanese
to English or vice versa.
Since Feb. 2007, she began writing a monthly column for the most
popular Japanese magazine called
Lighthouse
in Southern California.
Graduated from USC with a degree in Communications; ASCAP member.
